The $346 million toll-lanes project on an the 485 loop road around North Carolina’s biggest city is running well behind schedule. Originally planned to be completed fall of 2022 is now expected to take 2 years longer to complete.

According to the North Carolina DOT (NCDOT), the project will add an express lane in the median in each direction on I-485 between I-77 and U.S. 74 (Independence Boulevard) to improve traffic flow in this critical transportation corridor. One general-purpose lane will also be added to I-485 in each direction between Rea Road and Providence Road. None of the existing lanes will be tolled.

At Black Tie Car Service, we are always dedicated to offering our clients, the fastest and safest transportation possible. With the new express lanes opening, there is no doubt this will benefit our corporate business travelers. All of our vehicles will be able to implement these new lanes to ensure our clients are always on time without the worry of traffic slowing them down.
